The Mexican food restaurant is solid, and I believe there are 2 other places around the square.
I think most people in Blanco probably work twords San Antonio, it’s not very far to the outer suburbs and Hwy 46 which is kind of the hill country outer loop of San Antonio.
I was actually gonna see if everyone wanted Mexican food for Friday night. Sounds like it could be a possibility then. I’ll ask the front desk about them when I get there Thursday.
Tex Mex sounds good to me. Plus, in addition to my baby doll teddy, I am bringing a special pillow for the fight. As with my hormel/spam/gubmint cheese chili, this pillow guarantees me victory. Sneak peak
They say it's been built, and that's what shows on the tracker, but not shipped. And of course the railroad union is threatening to strike again so who knows.
On the bright side, however, I sold my still-very-nice pickup to a buddy who pretty much had to have it for their out of state hunting trip this week. I gave it to him for the dealership's high-side trade-in quote so he got a pretty good deal that we were all happy with, but that leaves me tooling around in my little 4-banger Jeep as my daily driver. It'll get up to 60 if me and The World Famous Jeep Dog both peddle fast enough!
I was chatting with the World Famous Jeep Dog this morning about how we shoulda been a-rollin into Blanco today. He's not pleased, but sez howdy to y'all nonetheless.
They are not physically at the office, I had to call them to verify my room and check in. I was going to post pictures but posting via cell phone sucks worse than a tornado so I'll wait until the wifi is on.
I've had a cruddy week and am already taking off Thursday and Friday, so I considered coming on down... they actually have a room open for Friday and Saturday nights.
But it would be 18 hours driving combined, and I'm supposed to cook some 'cue up for the cast party on our recent theater production of Gunsmoke. Plus, money's a bit tight at the moment due to some stupidity with one of the places who is (ostensibly) supposed to pay me every month but they keep forgetting. For a couple of months in a row now. <sigh>
Interesting. IMDB show Blanco as one of the film locations for "True Grit," the Jeff Bridges one, not the John Wayne one. Mostly filmed in New Mexico, but Blanco Texas is also on the list of filming locations.
We arrived in Austin today and will drive to Blanco via Chocolate El Rey Friday. We are shooting for Happy hour arrival and SWIMBO and our Son may stay for a drink.
