I just spoke with a friend who owns a meat market in Dallas. He had a bit of news I hadn’t heard, 44 farms will no longer sell to meat markets and the public. They have contracted to sell all of their production to Walmart. This is the first I’ve heard but with the volume of beef he moves I have no reason to doubt him. He’s looking at setting up, beef processing unit just for his needs. It’ll be like when I was young. The local butcher had a meat market.
Mebbee that is good on all accounts, time will tell. A butcher with a meat market sounds like a positive. And who knows, Walmart customers might benefit on quality upgrade.
