    Cabrito?

Has anyone sourced full or half baby goat in the Fort Worth / Dallas area? Thanks!

Look at the local Latin groceries. I've never sourced a whole or half cabrito but I have bought 4-5 lbs of meat before.

You might also want to try any Middle Eastern grocers. Back in Chicago, I used to get goat from the Arab grocer around the corner.

Yakima, WA. Last summer I went to our most prominent local wholesale meat supplier, and ordered a suckling pig. Worked swell.

Around here cabrito is advertised as a special order by the big supermercados around the holidays, so a Mexican grocery is probably your best bet.

And for those wondering, a cabrito is an unweaned baby goat.

Done right cabrito is wonderful. So much depends on how it was processed. There is an oil on the hair that really must be kept off the meat or you get an off flavor.

Goat is readily available at halal markets in San Antonio. There is a big one where you can pick out your own animal and they’ll butcher it for you. I agree with Oak Smoke that cabrito done well is excellent.

Sounds interesting. We have a goat farm just north of town. Get a fair amount of the cheese.

Negative. but when you do. let us know.

I had some in Bonaire....until me and my brothers ate all the goats they had during our 2 week stay. Literally, we went to the restaurant every day and night it was so good.

Costco had whole baby goats at one point. Been months since I saw one.
