    Back in Sweden

    Hej

I am not new to the Pit, but last year I did come back to my native land of Sweden after 12 years in the UK. Now living in the South near Lund instead of Norrköping where I was born. My BBQing definitely took a backseat last summer with the move and settling in. I have 2 young kids (4 and 1.5 years old) so long cooks hasn't really been an option either. My father has an offset so we did Hot smoked Salmon on that for XMas and we have done a few other things too. At my house we did a couple of "normal" BBQs, i.e. burgers, sausages, stuffed peppers (my friends wife is vegetarian).

BBQ wise I have a small Kamado style and a standard Weber that the previous owner left me, but as I donated my modded Char Griller offset and Char Griller BBQ to the scouts when I moved because it wasn't really worth bringing them from a cost perspective. I have ordered a Traeger Ironwood XL that should be arriving tomorrow. I can't wait. I really hope it will let me do Brisket and Pulled pork and all the things I wasn't able to do on an offset because of the kids.

If any of you have any advice on where to get pellets, where to order equipment or meat etc over here, please don't hesitate to get in touch! I am very much still learning so I am sure the first Brisket I make will require a lot of improvement.

You've had a busy life lately what with the move back home again. It must feel good to be back. Enjoy that new Traeger!

You might also get some sourcing tips from Elton's BBQ. He’s in Norway, but you never know…

Good to hear from you. I knew a fellow from Sweden that came to Cincy to start a package express company on motorcycles.
That was right up my alley. A group of riders came to the bar where I was tending, and convinced me to come ride bikes n get paid for it. Why the heck not? Big turn in my life and career changing opportunities. Too busy going forward to look back.

My daughter and SIL live in Copenhagen. I know there’s a pretty big bbq store in Malmo. I don’t remember the name. They probably have pellets.

So different than US or Canada, but great barbecue can be made anywhere. Have fun and welcome back.
