    Porter Road

I have received my gift certificate for Porter Road. What do you recommend?

    Thanks in advance

It’s been a while but one of our favorites, besides fresh cuts, is their chorizo. It makes dynamite street tacos. I also like their beef, always delivers flavor. But caution, they are located in the SE US, hoping it can stay fresh to you out on the west coast.

bbqLuv if you recall, I was the proud recipient of the $500 GC from porter road. Every order arrived rock solid with some dry ice still in tact. My favorites are the pork chops and the coppa roast. Double pork chops are in stock right now, too. Watch the scrolling banner at the top of the web page to see what’s on sale. Right now it’s 20% off NY. The bavette is also delicious.

I thought we might hear from SA. It all looks very good!

What do you consider Bavette to be? I see several “definitions”, mostly flap, but also flank and skirt.

      Thanks!

Willy I think it’s a portion of the sirloin flap. I just know that it’s a very beefy-steaky bite that’s simple and fast to prepare. And so good!

The certificate counts as cash, so a lot of discounts can be stacked. There is a 10% discount for your first order, there is the Pitmaster Members deal, there is the free shipping, and there is the weekly special. I’m not sure the Pitmaster deal stacks with the 10%.

Wait until the weekly special is something you like! My first week it was jerky, and I don’t like jerky because it sticks in my teeth. The next week it was chuckies!

ALWAYS order enough to get the free shipping! Think about it: you can order $100 worth of stuff and pay $25 to ship… or order $125 worth of stuff and pay nothing to ship.

Use stuff like chorizo and bacon, and jerky if you like it, to hit $125 if you need items; like if you’re $8 short, add a chorizo (or bacon, burgers, etc). I’ll second the chorizo, it is incredible! In fact, I should have ordered more, because I want it, but I don’t need $125 worth of other stuff right now. I should have tripled up on that small stuff. That’s my next tip: get as much as you feel comfortable storing.

I can’t advise you on what’s best, because everything I’ve gotten there has been exceptional, as good as Creekstone or anywhere else. The pork butt I did last week was absolutely great. The chuck roast was fantastic. Short ribs, chorizo, burgers, pork shanks… everything. So pick what YOU like. You WILL be satisfied with the quality.

I’min the Northeast, and I ordered in December. Everything was rock solid. If I lived in Las Vegas, I’d be checking the weather forecast, though. Don’t put a barrier between yourself, the vendor, and customer satisfaction.

Thank you for your advice, this is the first time I will order meat online.

bbqLuv Also, pay attention to your freezer size and storage space. Do you have room for a 10 lb pork butt? Or, do you have more room for a few steaks instead? Racks of ribs take up a lot of room, steaks don’t!

I recommend you sending that to me.

I promise to take lots of pictures to include a detailed description of everything.

I have had several Porter Road orders. My favorites incule the pork wings - I really recommend those - spare ribs, bavette, tri tip, chuck and the beef sticks. The all things roast seasoning is really good too. I haven't ordered recently because my freezer is pretty full right now.

Get something stupid expensive. Wagyu Tomahawk. Prime ribroast. Heritage pork. Etc.
