Who's going to be first out of the gate with a full line of mail order, boutique insects. I can't wait for some Wingyu grasshoppers. All for the common good you know.

What’s happened to Snake River Farms?

I’m envious of y’all who have good local protein suppliers. In addition to getting good quality meats, you’re supporting the local economy. I wouldn’t mind paying a premium under those circumstances as I know the income and profits would stay local. As Spinaker said though, once they are on Conglom-O’s radar, the buyout/sellout happens all too often. What’s a carnivore to do?

Since the Wild Fork moved in, my mailed meat orders have ended. With the exception of the magic pork chops from Heritage Foods. Can't find those hardly anywhere else.

I love SRF meat, but I always bought either provision packs from SRF or singles from a reseller. Haven’t ordered from them since the packs disappeared. It’s good, but not $75-100 or more per pound good. I was buying it at $20-30/lb.

Late to the party, but we're SRF fans, Double R Ranch particularly, as we find Wagyu a bit greasy for our taste. YMMV, but we've found consistently good quality (pricey, but YGWYPF) and great customer service. We're interested in others as well, including local butchers (they do exist), but we've been happy with SRF. A bit of their history here: https://www.snakeriverfarms.com/jour...stbrandreviews

Large Big Green Egg, Weber Performer Deluxe, Weber Smokey Joe Silver, Fireboard Drive, 3 DigiQs, lots of Thermapens, and too much other stuff to mention.
When I buy on line, I buy items that are on sale, and I buy bulk. Done judiciously, that can result in better quality beef and pork than I get locally on those specific items, at comparable prices for pork and better prices for beef. At least so far. Chicken is different; unless it’s a plain roasted chicken, I don’t notice enough of a difference to justify the considerably higher cost and price of high end chicken.
One thing I won’t do any more is order during the summer, or during a heat wave. That’s just asking for trouble.

Aside form Creekstone I will put a plug a in for Alderspring. They are on land they lease from the state in Idaho and Montana and they have been doing soil surveys for years which prove their grazing practices are building soil in wilderness. They have documented improved biodiversity and nutrition in the wild forbes that their cattle graze on. Very scientific AND they drive all their cattle through the mountains on horseback and set cow camp halfway through their range. They have 7 daughters that farm this way and send out a newsletter with updates on weather and interesting tidbits. I also have found they do not cut corners in packaging their meat. It was better than Creekstone and frozen solid with full on dry ice etc last time I ordered. They also offer boutique cuts of meat and 16ths of cows with a theme. Check them out https://shopalderspring.com/. A word of caution they did have some folks set up a fake site with crazy reduced prices and people were wondering why their meat never came. I learned about this from their newsletter and wasn’t scammed. If you subscribe they send out deals in the newsletter, not huge deals but they are a small operation. Their meat is phenomenal. 🔥🔥🐿️
