So, my Dad texted me today that if I'd do a brisket for Thanksgiving, he will take care of the expense. Looks like I will be doing brisket instead of chuck. This is our first Thanksgiving together with him and my entire extended family since he is moving from Charlotte to Wilmington. He's always done his own thing and never made it to the Wilmington tradition. Now I am REALLY excited! I can smoke a mean brisket and really want him to enjoy it (he hasn't had any that I've smoked in the past). I usually get prime grade from Costco but want to make this one even better. I've ordered from SRF, Porter Road and Wild Fork plenty of times in the past but never a brisket. Who do you all recommend for top quality brisket, even if they are not in those three listed? It would be nice if they were trimmed a little better than the Costco ones to save me some time but that is not absolutely necessary. Looking forward to your responses!

Creekstone is a good choice. I’ve been pleasantly surprised by the quality of the Wild Fork prime briskets I’ve ordered. I’ve never tried SRF, but have never seen anyone here comment negatively about it.
Also, enjoy your Thanksgiving. Sounds like it will be great.

Being in Wilmington, you might want to take a good look at Meat N' Bone - Premium Quality Meats (meatnbone.com) this time of year it's not a huge deal, but they are just down the road from us and both orders I've made with them I've been pleased with quality and the items actually arriving frozen still in the summer. There's an Amazing Ribs discount code too

ItsAllGoneToTheDogs - They have an outlet in Wilmington NC? Can you send me the address if so - I live in Wilmington and don't recognize the name.

Waster no, I just meant being East Coast and a straight shot delivery wise, the are in FL but I got my shipment within 2 days so everything was still completly frozen.

I've done just one brisket, a Prime 14-pounder from Wild Fork, and it was spectacularly good. One data point, but a good one.

I have only done two briskets in my life. I also had one prime brisket from Wild Fork. It was about 19 pounds before trimming. Also terrific. The second was a prime cut from Costco. Much smaller at just 11 pounds before trimming. Just Ok.

I have bought a few from SRF but just one from Creekstone. The ones I’ve gotten from SRF, or even Double R Ranch prime, have been far superior to the one I’ve gotten from Creekstone.

Second this. I buy brisket points from Creekstone whenever they go on sale and have bought 3 or 4 full packers from them. But I greatly prefer SRF. Juicier, tenderer(?), and the higher fat content means I can go higher temp and be done sooner with no harm to results. Oddly I prefer the SRF black over the gold, the gold is just a little too rich, in both senses of the word.
