    Porter Road and Lamb

I noticed that Porter Road has no lamb available and asked about it. This was their response:

    Hi Kevin,

    Thanks for reaching out.

Unfortunately, we have discontinued all of our lamb products for the near future at least. I'm so sorry to disappoint! This is in response to the major U.S. Domestic Lamb producers cutting off their supply. While we do not purchase from them and have our own local partner farms, the lack of supply in the country has increased the price of lamb to unreasonable levels because other farms are able to sell at a higher price, and we do not feel comfortable selling lamb at those incredibly inflated prices.

If this situation changes, we may bring it back, but we have no solid timeline for that.

    Best,

    A.J.

Thanks for getting the scoop on this. I noticed the lack of lamb awhile back when shopping there. They have been our main source for domestic lamb at decent prices. Luckily we bought in bulk so can continue enjoying their lamb for several more months before needing to think about purchasing more.

      That's so discouraging, but understandable.

Thanks for this Kevin. I thought they had lamb in the past but wasn’t sure. I appreciate their willingness to not sell presumably overpriced product that they feel wouldn’t meet their quality standards or value proposition. I am sure their margins on the lamb made it a poor financial decision too if producers were able to get higher prices from places other than PR.

We need to form a commune and raise our own sheep, cows, and chickens. I say we all move to ComfortablyNumb 's farms and set up camp. Then we will no longer be subject to the whims of politicians, only weather.

As an aside I noticed PR renamed its prior small (now inside) and large (now outside) skirt steaks. I had to email them about that too. They are really thoughtful about feedback.
