Ordering Game Meat Online: ElkUSA the Best?

I am looking at ordering some bison, goat, and maybe deer or venison soon from the below site.

I do not see too much discussion of ordering game meat online. Is this place the best or are there better
places to find quality meat at a reasonable price?

I certainly don’t see goat locally.

I placed a 15 lb order a few months ago, so far the meats have been good. Shipping and packaging ran about $90.00.

Yes, I think that is the only choice. Maybe they offer overnight too.

Have you tried any halal butcher shops in your area? When I lived in Chicagoland, I used to get goat at local Arab butchers.

Yelp tells me the closest ones is maybe 30 miles away, which is a bit of a drive. Did you hit up any chains?

STEbbq no chains that I’m aware of. As far as I know they were all old fashioned neighborhood butchers. Sorry there aren’t any closer to you.

STEbbq There are a few Halal butchers on Roosevelt Rd in Villa Park and Lombard. Blue Ribbon Butcher shop on Austin and Lake in Oak Park sells frozen goat shoulder. Sometimes a little pricey but always good.

I suggest Dakota Pure for Bison. They raise, process, and ship their own meat. Great quality and they believe in customer service.

Get bison meat delivered to your door. Order online and have premium cuts of bison shipped to your home. Premium Bison products.

They raise goats but I don't see goat meat on their website.

      Have Fun!

Good post. Todd County is the perfect place for raising buffalo.

Wild Fork has a decent selection of bison, and one goat item. Never tried any of them, so can't speak to their quality.

This is a good idea. We were thinking burger grind for the bison and maybe deer and mix it with beef chuck so already ground isn’t a bad idea. I suppose the goat cubes could work for a stew which was our plan.

I think I will have to do a price comparison including shipping for Wild Fork versus ElkUSA and see where we are.

Can't speak to it, I harvest my own, but if you need some recipes...

We were thinking burgers and sausage for the bison and deer mixed with beef chuck. For the goat, obviously stew. I haven’t gotten around to recipes yet so would love any you want to share.

No need to mix with chuck. Either go bacon, or brisket trim to get to the ratio you want. Don't forget sausage. Goat make great chili, and or currey. Also depending on age, steaks with a habanero onion jam. We raise north African boar goats, along with nubians at the farm.

The bison ribeyes from Wild Fork are great, I've cooked several of them. The ones from ElkUSA are good too but a bit thinner.

$90 shipping to me as well but each box holds 20 pounds of meat. Wild Forks is $4.95 plus tip. Hm.

Yeah, that's a a lot of difference. For those on a limited income that could be a deal breaker.
I really enjoy buffalo too but it today's prices, I guess it's going to be a rare occasion.
I can sometimes source buffalo steaks locally but again it is less available at present.
At our local Wal-mart beef steak runs out of stock daily.

Maybe try calling the butcher shop at the University of Illinois for goat and if you want deer and Bison i'm sure they can tell you who to call....we have thousands of hunters here in our state and speciality butcher shops for wild deer when season is in.
Bison is a little harder to find but I know there used to be a couple Bison and Elk farms too???

This whole delivery next morning is pretty sweet from Wild Forks. However, the store is apparently a hour away. Ordered octopus, ostrich, alligator, goat, elk, and yak.
