It's been about 15 years since I purchased from Omaha Steaks. I seem to recall that back in those days they were pretty good. However, I my understanding of all things cooking, grilling, and smoking meat was severely lacking. I keep seeing ads for them on TV and online and in fact I just now saw a TV commercial promoting a site wide 50% off sale.
So what say you Pitmasters? Are they any good and worth a try?

I challenge you to find what grade they are selling on their site. I could not find it. That should be enough right there, but I was gifted some of their meat some years ago and would not pay for it - even at half price.
If someone sends these as a gift, I usually dice it up and use the meat in sauce heavy recipes. The only steaks that are worse, is the guy that drives around with a beat up datsun truck and a cooler going door to door
I looked at their website for info. What a scam. Tons of marketing hooha but little hard info. No mention of what grade the meat is as mentioned above. And 50% off? Hah! Their steaks are priced like jewelry or furniture. Huge discount off of inflated "normal" price to arrive at a still overpriced product. Expl: Four 10 oz ribeyes at the discount price of $99.99. That’s $40.00/lb on sale! NOPE.
Large Big Green Egg, Weber Performer Deluxe, Weber Smokey Joe Silver, Fireboard Drive, 3 DigiQs, lots of Thermapens, and too much other stuff to mention.
We used to get them years ago, and regularly at that. If they are the same as they were, then they are better than commodity steaks, but not as good as the better grocery store steaks like black angus. You can get better quality for less at Creekstone, Porter Road, etc… almost anywhere.
If you read the catalog/website carefully, you’ll notice that they advertise some product separately as Prime. The rest of their stuff is Choice.
And, their hot dogs are really freakin’ good. After we stopped ordering the beef, we still got the hot dogs. We stopped when we found a local source for better dogs.
I thought their hot dogs were gross, amongst the worst I've ever had. Then again, I'm pretty particular about my dogs. The burger patties and twice baked 'taters were pretty good though.
But, honestly, I could buy frozen burgers from the store that are as good or better. Other than that it's a hard pass.
I received some as a gift this Christmas. I liked them but would never pay their price for them. I can get better by buying prime grade at my local store. The best thing in the box was the caramel apple tartlets - loved them.
They have been "50% off" for as long as I can remember, so not really a sale.
