One of our BBQ favorites is beef back ribs, and the grocery we almost always shop is Publix. Publix is very common in the Southeast.Anyway, most times that I wander through I look for beef back ribs (posted about them here). They only have them on display occasionally. We have special plans for tomorrow, so I headed to Publix to get a rack of beef and one of pork. No beef ribs on display, so I asked the butcher to cut me a rack, which he did. During the discussion though, he told me that when they have boneless ribeyes on sale, they have excess of back ribs. So they reduce the price by $1 - $1.50 to clear the excess. They have the ribeyes on sale at least once a month . . . So, I'll be watching their add in the future . . . good to know.

I'll bet they aren't the only store to do this. I'll start watching the meat counters in my area, good info!-
It is possible for a store to purchase rib eye and strip loins boneless.  I use to work ar a smaller local butcher and we did this. We just didn't move beef ribs fast enough most of the time. So if you are going to find a deal like this, it will probably be at a bigger place that has a lot of foot traffic.
