Southern Craft Butchers -- Raleigh, NC

I completely stumbled upon this place as I was going to a local spice shop (Savory Spice Shop) in Lafayette Village in Raleigh.

It was Southern Craft Butchers' grand opening TODAY! I had no clue. It's a nice Butchers Market. Sure, you're paying more, but it's all local cows and pigs. They buy the whole animal then butcher it in house.

They do not have USDA labels, so I kind of wonder what you're getting. It'd be nice if they had it all labeled.

They don't have a ton of local products in there yet, but hopefully they will as they grow. Today was grand opening, so cutting them some slack.

They had a massive sampler plate for their grand opening. It consisted of braised beef, pulled pork slider, cheeseburger slider, and sausage and onions. IMPRESSIVE! Glad I caught them on their grand opening!

I'm curious how they will fare in the coming months. Hopefully good!

I know, right! Don't want them to go out of business like the Kamado Grill did a few miles away.

They'd have to be mighty incredible Collard greens at $5.99 per pound! Good luck to them, though.

If the chicken is any example, they have good product. I'm making one of that brand today - they are awesome, with yellowish skin!
