I wandered onto the Sysco website out of curiosity. It is of course the largest provider of food to chain and other mediocre restaurants. I found it a pretty depressing site with all of the processing. They are famous for printing fake grill marks on their food as below.
Yeah, good ole grill marks. Pretty sure one of the big chicken companies prepares that for them. I know at least one company that calls theirs "Grilled and Ready."
They have decent meats at decent prices. Before our HEB started carrying wagyu briskets they were selling them for around $70.00, baseball steaks for $12.00 - my friend who owns a brewery bought some of the steaks and gave me one. That was my first taste of American wagyu.
They don't list prices on their site nor do they give out a catalog if you ask, you have to sign up as a customer. I tried to sign up as a customer via my veterinary clinic but we are too small to qualify: we had to commit to about $500/month. We don't use that much $$ in supplies in a month (paper towels, TP, janitorial).
Luckily we have a Sysco warehouse store open to the public near us. Great place to get things like dry scallops and a few other things hard to find in our local grocery stores.
