A couple 3 years ago we went to ALDI. I wasn't impressed. Looking at meat selection was scarce. Left without any purchase. We went back recently, based on some feedback here. I was pleased with the selection. A strip steak and a couple of Ribeye for starters. Today I SV'ed the strip 130°. Brined prior to the SV, 4 hours. Ice bath 30 minutes then in fridge till ready to sear. Done on Spirit in griddle mode with beef tallow. . High heat. Off and course ground pepper added and topped with compound butter. I must say quality was nice. Tender little to no fat. Taste was great but you can't miss with salt and pepper. Prices were reasonable. Looking forward to the Ribeye.

I shop at Aldi all the time. Ours is clean and has a great selection. I usually buy salmon, cheeses, occasionally pick up a steak, flat iron steak or skirt. Produce is good and avocados are always under $1 each. If you like bagged cheddar popcorn, their's is our favorite. Black bag. They are always cheaper when the bill total comes up.

Produce is usually very good but be careful, I think they get too much sometimes and I have had spoiled strawberries and soft grapes. Overall excellent though. I got some of the nicest tenderloins here a month ago there and they were $7.99 lb. I bought the two that were left but would have grabbed a half dozen if they were there. Breads, deli and dairy are good and priced well.

We have been shopping at Aldi for years now. They don’t have everything I might want, but the prices and how fast I can complete shopping make it our favorite. But, what store is perfect. I like not having to chase all over a big store to find an item or find someone who can tell me where to find the item. Because their bar codes are on at least all four sides of their in store items their checkout is the fast I know.

I'm piling on about Aldi being a great store. The Aldi quarter rides in my vehicle for easy access. And sometimes I get lucky and hand my quarter to someone pushing back an empty cart in the parking lot on their way to return it.

- If not cooking outdoors, I am cooking on the stovetop with my 14" carbon steel wok, 12" CI skillet, or in the oven with my two Lodge CI pizza pans, or two dutch ovens. I've also got a nifty Lodge carbon steel grill pan that rocks for veggies outdoors.
Some of the pricing for meat in Aldi is often similar Sam's or Walmart, but the few items I've bought - like a couple of flatiron steaks - were really good. At ours, produce is sometimes hit or miss - they will not have everything on our shopping list, meaning we still stop somewhere else. But what they do have seems good quality and is usually priced well.
A friend of mine who hosts a big Oktoberfest party every year turned me onto how Aldi had true German sausages available seasonally, a few weeks before his party. He would buy out all the Nuremburger sausages and bratwurst at the 3 Aldi's in town.
