It's been over 20 years since I lived anywhere near Newark DE, but I did get here, the absolutely most fantastic filet mignon steaks I've ever had in my life. Dry aged and *out of this world*. Circa 1994 (when I lived in wilmington) they were around $14/lb (prime, dry-aged, *perfect*)... I can only imagine what it costs now! The butcher cut and trimmed the filets while I watched, artistry in motion! I was a post-doctoral fellow at the Universty and it was for a special occasion. I think this isn't a good place if you are on a budget, but for a special occasion (where you aren't going to say, Peter Luger's or one of *those* joints) and you'll be doing the cooking and want to out jones the joneses...
+1 for Herman's. I live within walking distance and their products and service are phenomenal. I usually get beef tenderloin for Beef Wellington (for my wife's birthday celebration), and they are perfectly trimmed. I actually learned how to trim that cut of meat while watching one of their butchers.
