If you happen to find yourself in San Diego and in the want of good meats, check out Siesel's or Iowa Meat Farms. They're my go-to butchers. Prices might be a little higher than what you're accustomed to, but the quality should exceed your expectations. If anybody from the San Diego area has a better recommendation, please by all means leave a post.

Hi, my name is Darrell. I'm an OTR truck driver for over 25 years. During my off time I love doing backyard cooks. I have a 48" Lang Deluxe smoker, Rec-Tec pellet smoker,1 Weber Genesis 330, 1 Weber Performer (blue), 2 Weber kettles (1 black and 1 Copper), 1 26" Weber kettle, a WSM, 8 Maverick Redi Chek thermometers, a PartyQ, 2 SnS, Grill Grates, Cast Iron grates, 1 ThermoPop (orange) and 2 ThermoPens (pink and orange) and planning on adding more cooking accessories. Now I have an Anova sous vide, the Dragon blower and 2 Chef alarms from Thermoworks.

Siesels in San Diego off of Morena Boulevard is my go to butcher shop and I second the earlier mention from 2016 by cmcmaughan. They have prime and choice meats, wild game (alligator, ostrich, pheasant, boar, whole pigs, deer, eld etc) and a whole case full of custom sausages which are a taste treat. They also have whole racks of beef and pork ribs as well as beautiful prime rib roasts. Also have dry aged meat, pricey, but spectacular. I once bought and entire pork belly and had the time of my life with that one! Delicious with Meatheads advice...never done one before but it was a hit with the kiddies and in-laws. Great place.

If you find yourself near Poway there’s a small family run place - Filhart Beef. They sell beef raised on their family farms in Michigan. Good stuff.
