Surprising Meijer meat counter

While my love of a good local butcher will never wain, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the new Meijer Store near my home has some outstanding offerings. I spoke with the on duty butcher and he explained how Meijer does not sell injected pork or poultry. That's great since I will not source pork at Costco for that very reason. I bought a 10 pound pork shoulder, a couple of bone in chops and some spare ribs that were at a great price. I grilled the chops last night and they were fantastic and today the shoulder just came out of its overnight date with my smoker and it is fabulous. Haven't tried the beef yet but will soon. It's a brand new store so I hope they will keep up the quality and the $$ for years to come!
