I had a grocery delivery scheduled for this morning which arrived at 10:30 am today. More than half of what I ordered was missing. I’m talking almost a hundred dollars worth of non meat stuff. I gave them a call. In less than 20 minutes I was refunded for all the things I didn’t receive. 5 minutes later I get a text that Betty is shopping my order and will be here by noon. I’m very pleased that I had a problem that was addressed immediately. I did have to pay for the new order but did get a 15 dollar discount. I realized there was a problem at 10:30 am and had it resolved by noon. That’s from a store that’s 26 miles away. Everyone has a problem once in a while. I received no questions asked great service to rectify that problem. I won’t ask for more than that.

Nothing. The delivery guy obviously left part of my order at another address. Walmart wouldn’t have known that unless either I or the person who got half my order called to tell them. We’ve been ordering from them for over 3 months, about once a week. This is the first issue of any kind. Like I said they took care of it immediately. I’m happy!

We're members of Walmart +
We've been getting deliveries for years mostly because we order 8 cases of bottled water for my kidney transplant.
With a reasonable tip, they even bring the water inside and stack it up for us.
I certainly can't complain to much on the occasional error

We don't order much or very often, but we've happily replaced Amazon with Wal-Mart. Their prices are great and their service has consistently been top notch--and no outside vendors selling nock-off merchandise!

"no outside vendors selling nock-off merchandise!" Marshmallow shooters are a must in any household. Tractor Supply is typically a hot bed.

In my dealings with Walmart, I find that they do have "sponsored" merchandise, like Amazon. They stand behind purchases made through them, though, and you can return the sponsored merchandise to a Walmart store rather than directly back to the vendor, which is a convenience. You have to wait to get the refund from the vendor, though.

I too have increased my online buying at Walmart at the expense of Amazon. I have noticed that Amazon prices are often higher than Walmart's. The product availability at Walmart is almost as good as at Amazon.Last edited by briano52; August 25, 2026, 04:48 PM.

Thanks. I should probably look into that.

I have found the same to be true. Before I buy on Amazon I check Walmart and the manufacturer web page of the item I want to buy. Amazon offers "free shipping" but I've noticed that some stuff (not everthing) on Amazon is marked up by the approximate amount the manufacturer charges to ship direct.

I just placed my first order at Wal Mart for pellets. Was very easy with deliver yset for tomorrow. I, too, and trying to do less business with Amazon. Haven't signed up for a membership yet until I see how much I will use them. But not happy with Amazon's often deceptive pricing and Prime movies advertising. I recently was going to order some art supplies and found their pricing was 15% over retail.

My understanding is that Amazon will change the prices based on your location and purchasing history. You might pay more than another person for the same item.

Yes, and Expedia and airlines do the same thing. Once they see what your intended destination is, the prices often go up. You can sometimes beat that by clearing your cache and cookies but not always and it is a PIA.
It is easier to switch computers, logins and email addresses. That usually works and is worth the trouble if it is a big travel item.

Do you let them pick your produce and meats, Oak Smoke , or do you just order pantry items from them?

Kathryn I’ve let them pick some bell peppers, avocados, jalapeños, cilantro, carrots, and potatoes a couple of times but that’s about it. I think they did fine at that. Never any meat. You have no clue who will be pulling your order so to hope for consistency in picking produce or meat would be a long shot. Pantry items for sure but things like deodorant, household cleaners, and even charcoal are available. They’ve delivered two 20 pound bags of B&B lump charcoal right alone with the groceries.

We order delivery through Walmart, and I have bought a little bit of meat. Ribs in particular, vacuum packs from Prairie Fresh. The St. Louis and Spares were fine. I might be hesitant with Baby Backs since I like picking through and finding ones without excessive loin meat, but I usually do the St. Louis style anyway.

We were in the drive through of a KFC here in town the other day due to getting home late. Ordered a flock of dark meat and sides. Got to the window and a lady came and said "before I take your money, we are one piece short for your order. I can give you two white meat pieces instead, two orignal dark meat pieces instead, you can wait 10 minutes at we will have a whole fresh batch for you, or you can choose to pass. What works best for you." I was flabbergasted. You mean there are people out there that will actually try to head off a problem before it happens, and when they bring said problem to you will also have reccomended solutions?!?! Not the normal these days in my experience. I actually tipped her, parked, went in and complimented her to her manager.

Oak Smoke right now I have no openings. I have been truly blessed that I have been able to maintain very low turnover, low operational costs, and high performance.

SnS 22" kettle, 22" WSM with Pit Viper, 36" LSG pellet pooper
24" Blackstone griddle, 6 Gallon Cajun Fryer.
50K BTU wok burner.
I call that Wally World Roulette. Sometimes I get my order, sometimes I get my order plus part of another persons order, and sometimes some I get half of my order. They are always good about refunding anything that's missing, but getting a replacement order for just a few items without extra delivery charges takes a phone call and talking to a real person.

I hadn't looked into the Plus membership that closely, but after seeing this thread, I read up on it, and I'm thinking it might be worth it. Our store is only 3-4 miles away, but it's always a clown show in the store. The scan and go, free delivery, and some of the other benefits sound pretty appealing. Not sure I'd trust someone to pick out fresh foods, like veggies or meats, but anything else should be ok. Plus, we have a Kroger and an Aldi that's about a mile away that more convenient for those types of things, anyway.

We have ordered non-perishables from Walmart on occasion, mostly for same day deliveries (My daughter has the membership). Their picker has default options to substitute if what you ordered is out of stock, so that has to be shut off if you want something specific.
They have opened a Walmart Neighborhood Market a couple of miles away and we're gradually weaning ourselves off Publix. It's a large store that carries only food, paper products and limited toiletries and OTC drugs, so food selection is better than the Supercenter without the hassle. Many prices beat the competition, and meat is excellent (got a couple of PRIME! packers a while back). The store is a re-modeled Albertsons, and is immaculately clean unlike the clown shows at the Supercenter.
Don't know how wide spread the Neighborhood Markets are, but there are several in the Central Florida area.

As far as Amazon is Walmart...
We use Walmart for most bulk items as free delivery only applies to orders over $35.
Also on non-grocery items that are cheaper than Amazon.
Amazon we mostly use for quick delivery if the price makes sense or needed the next day.
Some items are just not on Walmart.
