Excellent. Like you, never been to Costco. But, we have a regular Sam’s run each month. We have considered going to the store once per month and making that just Sam’s.

I go with a list and rarely deviate from it.
I have my go to things that I buy there, and they are mostly paper products and cleaning products so I need the big cart. I also never, ever, stop at the sample stations ( I actually find them annoying) thus avoiding those temptations

I use my keep app at wolly world. The only "free" samples is if you want to start ripping through the bananas in front of strangers.

I'm like you we travel with a list. It is 3 hour drive for us to get to a Costco so I always bring a cooler for "just in case." Usually we stock up on TP, paper towels, aluminum foil, plastic wear too. I do cruise by the meat cases to see what might be good and swing by to see about champagne too.

Rubs I love:
Yardbird by Plow Boys
Killer Hogs by Malcom Reed
AP Rub by Malcom Reed
Meat Church (any)
Three Little Pigs Memphis Style for ribs
Would love to try Meathead's commercial rub
Sauces I love:
Gates'
Joe's
Pa & Ma's
Killer Hogs Vinegar Sauce
Disposable Equipment I use:
Disposable cutting boards
Tumbleweed chimney starters
Aluminum foil
Aluminum pans (half and full)
Latex gloves
Diamond Kosher Salt
Vice-President of BBQ Security, Roy
He's a pure-bred North American Brown Dog
He loves rawhide chewies
My wife calls me "Teddy" and I call her "Princess" and that's where "mrteddyprincess" comes from.
I pay $60 a year to access brisket, ribs, TP, paper towels, half aluminum pans, Glad containers, and dog food. Occasionally Costco hard liquor. I think I save money by choosing what items are a deal and ignoring what is not.

Biggest problem we have with Costco and Sam's (yes, we have memberships at both) are the stupid long checkout lines, crowded aisles (seriously, have you people EVER been out in public?). And there seems to be a glut lately of people at Sam's who have no idea how to work a self-checkout station. And don't get me started on people who don't know how to stand in a line properly. It's like, "hey jackass, line starts back there"... For Costco, both locations near us are PACKED OUT every weekend. It's like we're living in the Irish potato famine zone or something. Parking is a nightmare at either one. I don't see how people with young kids would even attempt going there.
There's no way, when our kids were small, we would get halfway through without at least three meltdowns.
At least Sam's is much closer, and parking isn't as bad. But we seriously need to do the app checkout at Sam's and skip the lines. I keep saying "next time"... It's gonna happen.

Another fan here of Sam's Scan and Go. It's so easy to use and not having to wait in line to check out is the best thing about shopping at Sam's. Costco is currently testing that feature in a couple dozen of their locations. I'm hoping they roll it out to all locations soon. Yes, I also have membership to both stores. C'mon Costco, you can do it!

22" Weber Kettle w/SNS, 18" WSM, Bronco, Grilla Chimp, Traeger Tailgater, UDS, Camp Chef Tahoe Stove.
I have both memberships, but i haven't been in Sam's in awhile. I need to go in and compare; there are a couple things I get at Costco that weren't available at Sam's last time I looked. Plus Costco is in N GA, and the sales tax rate is lower. I am going to drop one, probably Sam's, soon. The video is right though. Everything at Costco is not necessarily a deal.

I just bought a 77" TV on the Costco app that is scheduled to be delivered this week. It was the same price as Best Buy, but 5 years of Allstate protection ($100 value) is included, plus free delivery to the room of my choice in the house. They would install it for another $30, but that's half the fun. 😃

Lone Star Grillz 24 X 48 Offset
I went in there last Sunday to buy some pork belly. I walked out with beef ribs, pork belly, brisket, Udon Noodles, sardines, jerky, 2 rotisserie chickens, skirt steak and avocados. I held off on the pork shoulder. It was on sale for an extra $8 off at the register and that is a great deal, but I was already in too far.

Grilla OG Pellet Cooker 🦍
Grand Prize Weiner: Blaze 3 Burner LP Grill 🙂
I went in Costco today to support my husband's coke habit. I put two things in the basket that I didn't need, and decided to put them back. I walked out with diet coke and canned tuna.
The thing about Costco that I find bothersome is the large amount of junk food they have front and center in the store. They should probably sell blood glucose test strips on those aisles.

Love Costco, haven't been in Sam's for a while. When it was just Mrs Trunkmonkey and myself, we didn't have a membership, but onece the boys came along, the bulk savings made sense. I go with a list and I always allow an impulse buy or two, under $100 (meat, beach gear, kitchen gizmo, tool, etc.). The meat selection varies from store to store, so I find one with a butcher that is stocking the meat I cook (I'm in So Cal, so they're all over the place). The membership starts to pay when you order on line: free shipping. I do a lot of that too. Its not a store for the undisciplined shopper, for sure.

Trunkmonkey I find that the HB Costco in Bella Terra usually has a few things that I don’t find at my cypress Costco. For a while, it was sirloin cap. Couldn’t find it anywhere except HB.
