I never heard of Wegman’s until a few years ago when some of the Pit Members here would mention them. I remember Mosca talking about what a great store they are but I never gave it much thought until today. This video just popped up into my YouTube feed, watched it non-stop till the end. I’ve never really watched any grocery store videos to be honest, but this one intrigued me! Sounds like H-E-B and Wegman’s share the same business philosophies and values. It’s a shame more grocery stores don’t. Gotta say, I’m impressed with Wegman’s! Wowzer!

They look like an interesting place to shop, but I don't think HEB has much to worry about (or Wegman's of HEB). Two different parts of the country with no expansion plans to put them in competition, which is really a bummer for everyone who doesn't have access to one or the other.

Large Big Green Egg, Weber Performer Deluxe, Weber Smokey Joe Silver, Fireboard Drive, 3 DigiQs, lots of Thermapens, and too much other stuff to mention.
When we were in H-E-B, I was looking at ways they were similar and different. One thing about Wegman’s is that they do extensive market research while planning a store, and each store is tailored to the location. So the Wilkes-Barre store is completely different from the Ithaca store, and those are different from the Scranton and Allentown stores (the four that I’ve been to most recently). I’ve only been in the one H-E-B; is that the case there, too?
Wegman’s cheese is incredible. It is absolutely world quality. They consistently win awards for their Brie.
I haven’t said anything about their bread, and baked goods. But I probably should.
This stuff is INSANE.
It’s all baked in-store.
Everyone there seems happy, and helpful. There are cashiers and deli and meat counter workers who have been there long term. The pantry goods manager started there almost 30 years ago, stocking shelves; I know him because we sold him a car, when I see him we say hey to each other on a first name basis.
For us, Carone’s Shur-Save, Gerrity’s Fresh Grocer, Weis Markets, Aldi’s, and Price Chopper are all closer than Wegman’s. We go to Wegman’s. Gerrity’s is actually pretty good, though. Different enough that we’ll go there instead once every couple months. But even then we don’t go for a full order, just for the different stuff.

Tom, yeah, HEB does the same market research for each of their locations as well. They pride themselves on catering to the neighborhood they’re in. The HEB I go to is 10 X better than the Kroger 1 mile away from me. That HEB is almost 4 miles away and involves going down Westheimer Rd., one of the busiest streets in Houston. I don’t mind though, that’s how much I’ve come to hate that Kroger. Hard to explain but going to HEB is actually a joy for me, unlike going to my local Kroger.

I went to a Wegman's when i went to Virginia a couple of years ago. Very nice store, prices were higher than HEB.

There's a Wegman about 30 min from us, but not in an area we frequent. However, SWMBO likes to go there any time we are close. They do carry wagyu, and have dry aged steak in that store.
