    Xmas Came Early - Brisket

After nearly a year my local Costco has Prime brisket back in stock!

Today I wandered over by the meat case anticipating the disappointment that’s plagued me since January. What I found gave me a smile like a kid on Xmas morning when they see a big stack of presents under the tree.

At least a dozen Prime packers priced at $4.49/lb - higher than they’ve ever been before, but still the cheapest beef I can buy around here. So I now have a 15.8 lb packer wet aging in my garage fridge!

Here’s to Santa delivering some to your local Costco too! 🎄🐄🍻🐄🎄

Just one? I would have snagged 3 or 4.

    Congrats on the great news!

After not seeing any prime briskets at Costco for a couple months they were back last week when I needed two. Oddly enough the Prime briskets were $3.99 and the Choice briskets in the case next to them were $4.29 a pound.

That’s the strange thing about Costco. At my local store Prime packers have typically been $3.69/lb or less, while Choice packers have always been $5.69/lb or more!

So strange. I can’t imagine anyone ever bought them…but they stocked both for at least the last 8-9 years, so someone must’ve been paying more for lower quality meat.

Sam’s has had them pretty regularly for several months. Prime $4.98 per, choice $3.98 per, and prime trimmed, which looks like flat only, $4.68 per.

Today I went back to Costco. Prime packers were gone 😭 but they had Choice for $2.99/lb…the first time my Costco has ever had them priced lower than Prime! 😀

I bought one. It’s destined to be ground…I can’t buy ground beef around here for less than $5.99 (and that’s the 70/30 stuff), so this is a smokin deal. Gonna cut it to more manageable sizes, vac seal, freeze…then thaw as needed to grind.

I usually pay $3.29-3.49/lb for prime packers at my Sams

For years Costco had them priced between $3.29-3.69/lb. They even had Prime for $2.99 a few years ago…yes, I bought several.

Might be time to find a friend with a Sam’s membership.
