Greetings from Central IA.
My name is Mike, and I have been a lurker on AR.com for several years...I have tried a ton of the recipes even made some tweaks to suit my families preferences. I have intended to join the Pitmaster club for a while now to support the cause and give back to those who run the site and have provided me so much wisdom.
I grill and smoke mostly as a hobby, and I love to cook for others.
I consider myself an amateur, but I get a lot of requests for family gatherings and work parties, I never seem to have a problem having too many leftovers. I don't ever see myself on the KCBS or any Cable TV shows, but if the opportunity presented itself, I think I would enjoy some local low key competitive events.
Of all the food I have made over the years, I have never tried my own sauce...I will be giving that a go with an AR recipe within the next few days...my favorite bottled sauce is Sweet baby rays, but over the last couple years I find myself dragging a few bottles home every time I hit the BBQ store...Mo Cason makes a good one.
I enjoy trying new things, as well as implementing new twists on old favorites.
I hail from Pleasant Hill, IA
My toolkit consists of the following:
XL Big Green Egg
Weber Genesis S-310
Masterbuilt Electric Smoker (pretty much retired)
Thermapen (Lime Green)
BBQ Guru Wifi pit controller
Maverick ET-732
A-Maze-N Pellet Smoker
Anova Sous Vide circulator
way too many other accessories to list
