    Greetings from frigid MN

Hi everyone! Have been a frequent visitor to Amazing Ribs for a number of years and finally decided to join the pit. This site has upped my bbq game immensely and has shaped my purchasing decisions. Currently have an original PK with grill grates, an 18” WSM, and a 36” blackstone griddle. All monitored with a FireBoard thermometer. I use them all frequently and throughout the year even during the frosty MN winter. I’m currently looking to buy an insulated vertical cabinet smoker to increase capacity and better handle winter weather here. I’ll start searching through posts, but if anyone has any thoughts/information I’m all ears.

Welcome from frosty South East Texas! You’ll have fun here. I can relate to your frigid temps. I recently did a brisket and it was 38* outside here in Houston. All the other pit members were in awe of my toughness!

Haha, I’d take 38 any day of the week. It’s currently 15 and snowing here. Will be grilling some pork chops for dinner tonight.

                        Welcome from the California Delta.
I think you would be very happy with an insulated vert cabinet..............wait I own one. Great tasting food with little real-estate used.

Which model do you have? I’ve been looking really closely at the mini. Looks really well built and is priced very competively.

The Pit Barrel Cooker May Be Too Easy

The PBC has a rabid cult following for good reason. It is absolutely positively without a doubt the best bargain on a smoker in the world. Period. This baby will cook circles around the cheap offset sideways barrel smokers because temperature control is so much easier.

Masterbuilt MPS 340/G ThermoTemp XL Propane Smoker

This is the first propane smoker with a thermostat, making this baby foolproof. Set ThermoTemp’s dial from 175° to 350°F and the thermostat inside will adjust the burner just like an indoor kitchen oven. All you need to do is add wood to the tray above the burner to start smokin’.

The flat top does the burgers and the fryer does the fries. Use the griddle for bacon, eggs, grilled cheese, and so much more. And why deep fry indoors when you can avoid the smell and mess by doing it outside!
