    Hello From Michigan

    Hello All,

I am from Canton Michigan, a western suburb of Detroit. I have been cooking BBQ and smoking food for about five years. I started out cooking on a Weber Genesis using the two zone cooking techniques and Last Meal Ribs recipe I found on AmaizingRibs.com. From the Genesis I moved to a propane box smoker and now I am currently cooking on a Yoder 640. Some my other equipment includes a Maverick 732, 12” & 18” A-Mazing Smoker tubes and Frogmats. Even though I usually BBQ something every weekend during the warmer months, I still consider myself a novice and rely on this site for tips and recipes when trying something new.

Since this is your first post, please check out our homework assignment post for new members, it contains a few how-tos and please-dos.

Hope to hear & see more from you!

Hey! Another Michigander. I owned a house in Canton for 2 years ('96-'98). East side of Lilley about 1/4 mile south of Palmer. I live in South Lyon which isn't too far from Canton, although Howell, where JGK lives, is a bit closer.

PS - is your first name Greg or Gaylord?

Welcome from PA. The only affiliation I have with Michigan is that I'm an The Ohio State fan (born & raised east of Cleveland). Sorry. We still can be friends (I like Jim Harbaugh shhhh). FYI my wife, kids, in laws etc. are Penn State fans. My son in law has already ordered ribs & pulled pork for the OSU vs Penn St. game.

A big part of this site is our unbiased equipment and product reviews. We love playing with toys and we have no problem calling them the way we see them. Some companies pay a finder’s fee if a reader clicks a link on AmazingRibs.com and buys a product. It has zero impact on our reviews, zero impact on the price you pay, and the sites never tell us what you bought, but it has a major impact on our ability to keep this site alive! The Cool Kettle With The Hinged Hood We Always Wanted

Napoleon’s 22″ Pro Cart Charcoal Kettle Grill puts a few spins on the familiar kettle design. In fact, the hinged lid with a handle on the front, spins in a rotary motion 180 degrees. It’s hard to beat a Weber kettle, but Napoleon holds its own and adds some unique features to make the 22″ Pro Cart a viable alternative.

The Pit Barrel Cooker May Be Too Easy

The PBC has a rabid cult following for good reason. It is absolutely positively without a doubt the best bargain on a smoker in the world. Period. This baby will cook circles around the cheap offset sideways barrel smokers because temperature control is so much easier.
