New "Charter Member" from Hattiesburg, MS

Hi. I'm Tim. I'm new here, but you'll see it says I'm a charter member.

I guess that takes some explaining. I signed up back when the club was new, but due to some financial problems at the time, I let my membership lapse. But I'm back, baby!

I'm married and have two kids. One will soon be a senior physics major at the University of Alabama in Huntsville (and he was homecoming king this past year). The other child is my daughter who, I can't believe, is almost finished with seventh grade. We have four dogs, a rescue shi-tzu, a yorkie-poo, and two labradoodles (one of which is a four-month old puppy).

I'm a lawyer who works for a local trial judge in the Hattiesburg, Mississippi area. So no more private practice for me!

I have a Weber Spirit E-310, a Weber Kettle, and my wife just bought me a Pit Barrel Cooker for an anniversary present last month. I love that PBC, and I've been smoking some meat every weekend since I got it. I'm going to have to stop, though, because we're running out of freezer space!

Other than grilling & barbecue, my other hobbies are "indoor cooking" and photography.

Well howdy from The Great State of Jefferson, and welcome back! My BIL owns a sawmill in a little town outside of Huntsville and is fond of saying it's the only place in the world where you can go from hillbilly to rocket scientist in less than 30 minutes. Looks like life is good for you, carry on!

Welcome to the Pit from Dallas! I read an article (can’t remember here) that recommended Letha’s ( I think that is right) as a good place for BBQ in Hattiesburg. Do you know it?

The judge I work for actually used to hold an ownership stake in Letha's.

Personally, I think their sauce is too sweet, and there are other reasons I won't eat there. I don't want to slander anyone, so let's just leave it at that.

Welcome *back* to the Pit from Huntsville, Alabama!

I have a couple of graduates from UAH myself, living here! My oldest daughter, with a degree in mathematics and minor in computer science, is an engineer for Northrup Grumman, and my son graduated in December with a degree in Accounting. This is a good town to be in for tech jobs, and with a lot of businesses, a good place for accounting too apparently!

Sounds like you have all the tools you need, with the Weber gas/charcoal grills as well as the PBC. Cannot wait to see some of your cooks!
