    New member from NY

Just writing to introduce myself. Found this sight after reading the articles from Amazing Ribs on Serious Eats, and purchasing a SnS for my 22" Webber kettle grill. Prior to this purchase I had been intimidated by slow cooking on the grill, and would typically prepare slow cooked foods in the steam oven souvide style and reverse sear them on the grill to finish. Now I find myself using the kettle grill for all types of foods I would never have tried.

I am also toying around with the idea of modifying me Genesis 300 series GG with grill grates. I am especially drawn to the possibility of cooking on the flatter bottom portion of the grates, and being able to get much better radiant heating characteristics out of the gas grill which for me primarily only gets used when the convenience dictates choice.

Lastly, does anyone have a good suggestion for a proper griddle or plancha hack for either the kettle of gas grill? I would think the gas grill would be the preferred device for ease of use and surface shape purposes, but am open to suggestions.

Lastly, you guys have a great community here, I am really happy that I stumbled upon it and look forward to learning more from your shared experiences.

Welcome from Colorado ... and in answer to your "griddle hack" question, yep:

A Baking Steel griddle steel on my EP-330.

FWI - There are many other griddle options out there, some of which can even cover the entire grill surface. For me, this one works as I am normally cooking for only two.

Welcome to The Pitmaster Club! We hope you enjoy your trial and decide to stick around.

The 22" (or 26") kettle w/ SnS is one of the best devices in both versatility and quality of results IMO. Since you asked about a griddle/plancha, take a peek at ABCBBQ's Drip & Griddle pan. It fits over the SnS perfectly and works great as a griddle. If you need more space, ArteFlame makes stainless steel full griddle inserts for both the 22" & 26" kettles, as well as (pricey) freestanding ones. If you prefer your gasser to be the griddle, I have a small Lodge cast iron griddle that I use for gas, I like it, but I'm to sure of their sizes, mine is fairly small. I see MBMorgan has a nice one he's shared above.

Hope to hear & see more from you!
