    Hello and Go Gators!

Greetings from beautiful Orlando, Florida! I started experimenting with smoking meat around a year ago when my bro-in-law gave me an old little electric-smoker-that-could. Some months after that I stumbled upon this site and life will never be the same. I soon realized that the old electric smoker I was using was limiting how far I could go with my new hobby, so I turned to Amazing Ribs for advice and purchased the Camp Chef Smoke Vault 24" for my birthday (my wife got to call it her gift to me, so everyone was happy). While I still consider myself to be in the novice stage of this newfound love of mine, the tips, tricks and facts this site has provided have launched me light years ahead of where I was when I started (I was a wood soaker, to say the least). So by weekday I am a mild mannered accountant and by weekend I am a crazed Florida Gator fan and smoking machine. I haven't ventured too far off the beaten path, sticking with pork roasts, ribs, chicken, beef roast and the Ultimate Turkey. As I type I have a 8 pound butt and a slab smoking away. So basically, I felt like I was stealing by utilizing all of this "amazing" knowledge without at least joining The Pit, and I have a feeling that joining this community will prove fruitful in many ways. So thanks for having me, and again, Go Gators!

Welcome JP! I know what you mean. I am also a 'novice' level and this site gave me the confidence to take it to the next level.
I'll be in Florida for 2 weeks in late Feb. We have a condo in Punta Gorda. Do I qualify as a 'Gator - Wannabe?'
