    Hi ya'll from the ATL!

I am new here and I am happy as all get out to find this website! I just bought my Weber 26" about 3 months ago. I just purchased my slow N Sear and my XR50 thermometer and can't wait for my first cook with everything in place. Barbecue is my passion, I use it as a stress reliever from my job as an I.T. professional. Glad to say hello to everyone on the site and can't wait to network and learn about this passion of mine.

Welcome to The Pit AC BBQ from a Marietta, Georgia native, transplanted to Alabama these past 30 years. Like you, as an engineer, I find BBQ and cooking to be a stress relieving creative outlet. And it pays off by feeding the family!

You've got the perfect setup with that 26" Weber kettle and your new Slow 'N Sear and the XR-50. You will be able to slow cook proper BBQ, as well as put a 1000 degree sear on a steak when the need arises! And the 26" holds so much food! That's the only complaint I have about my Performer Deluxe is that it doesn't hold as much as that 26" kettle. If you don't have one, be sure to pick up a good instant read thermometer as well, as the XR-50 is great for monitoring pit temp and a big brisket or butt, but you will still need a good instant read for steaks, chicken, and other things. I highly recommend the Thermoworks Thermopop or their Thermapen if you have the cash for it.

I look forward to seeing your cooks and learning from and with you!

                  Jim in Huntsville, Alabama

Welcome AC BBQ! I agree that is a fantastic setup all the way around. There is nothing you can't do with that. I have the same setup, plus the 22" kettle version. I love the versatility the kettles+SnS provides, and that XR50 is my new favorite thermometer by far. I have a lot of thermometers but I reach for my XR50s now and loaned a few of my other brand therms out to friends.

Happy to have you with us, and we sure hope you decide to stick around!
