    Howdy from New Jersey

    Hey ya'll been learning & lovin this site for years so decided to finally join & support a great community of meat masters. I've been addicted to smoke for over 10 years and have gone from an electric Brinkman, to a Bradley, and now waiting for my Silverbac. I'm tossing a coin on what my inaugural smoke should be. Brisket or Pork butt? Interested in your opinions of not just which but why. To be honest I'm leaning brisket since I never foil wrap and it be great to see how much the Silverbac dries or doesn't dry out the beef. Glad to hear what ya'll have to say!

        Welcome to The Pit! Congrats on the new Silverbac too! I vote brisket for the inaugural cook, only because brisket blows pork butt away in my personal opinion.

        Since you’re new here, please check out our homework assignment post for new members, it contains a few how-tos and please-dos. This will help you learn your way around so you can get the best experience from our forum.

        Also, it's very important that you:

                  Welcome from Maryland. Not trying to go against the flow here but I would say pork butt. Very forgiving to cook, especially when learning a new cooker.

                        Welcome to the Pit! I would go with the Pork Butt because it is the most forgiving cut of low and slow meat. It will help you learn your cooker with minimum risk.
