    Hello from Indy

Hello everyone from Indianapolis, Indiana. I am 67 years old and retired. I went to cook school, in the U.S. Coast Guard in 1970, and got my first grill in 1980, and first smoker in 1985. I got a Big Green Egg in 2005. I collect cook books, mostly older ones. I have hundreds of them.

On another forum I saw a discussion about Aron Franklin's book and reading it got me all fired up to try some new things, and pumped up my enthusiasm which led me to the internet ,which led me to here. I bought Meathead's book which came with a free 90 day trial membership which got me into the forum. Two days of perusing the forum, and I decided I liked this place and sent in my membership money.

I have mostly done chicken and pork on the BGE, but tomorrow I'm doing my first Chuck Roast. I think I'm going to like it here. I confess up front I like beans in my chili, and I have two Instant Pots :-)

The Good-One Is A Superb Grill And A Superb Smoker All In One

The Good-One Open Range is dramatically different from a traditional offset smoker, placing the heat source behind and under the smokebox instead of off to the side. Click here to read ourcomplete review.

The Cool Kettle With The Hinged Hood We Always Wanted

Napoleon’s 22″ Pro Cart Charcoal Kettle Grill puts a few spins on the familiar kettle design. In fact, the hinged lid with a handle on the front spins in a rotary motion 180 degrees. It’s hard to beat a Weber kettle, but Napoleon holds its own and adds some unique features to make the 22″ Pro Cart a viable alternative. Click here for more about what makes this grill special.

The Broil King Signet 320 is a modestly priced, 3-burner gas grill that packs a lot of value and power under the hood including dual-tube burners that are able to achieve high, searing temps that rival most comparatively priced gas grills.
