    Smoke is good

Greetings from Kevin in Chattanooga, TN. I have been a member for a couple of years, but never got around to doing the intro. I have always had a love affair with charcoal and smoke. Started grilling as a youngster - my family has always been big on grilling and BBQ - and haven't stopped. I am on my second WSM (wore the first one out), we have a Traeger Scout that we use on our RV, I am picking up a new Weber kettle today (found out about a True Value Hardware sale on this site), and we have a monster grill a friend built us out of a 55 gallon drum. I'll post pics later. Got MHG's book when it first came out; I am thinking about building that whole hog smoker he details in the book in a corner of the yard. And based on the articles I read here, I piggybacked a sous vide order onto my better half's Herbalife order (kudos to SmokeyGator for inspiring the piggyback ordering method).

Now that I've actually typed all of that, I see that I may have a slight obsession with grills...

This is a great site. We have used many of the recipes from the site and MHG's book. Thanks to all that post, and lets keep smoking it up

                      Welcome to the pit!

Also I discovered that you can get away with buying a griddle by using it to make breakfast. But you should go all out. Eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns covered in cheese with onions and ham or whatever - the whole spread.

The Good-One Is A Superb Grill And A Superb Smoker All In One

The Good-One Open Range is dramatically different from a traditional offset smoker. By placing the heat source behind and under the smokebox instead of off to the side, Open Range produces even temperature from left to right, something almost impossible to achieve with a standard barrel shaped offset.

Winner of the National BBQ Association’s product of the year award. This 8.5″ x 11″ magnet contains more that 80 benchmark temperatures for meats (both USDA recommended temps as well as the temps chefs recommend), fats and oils, sugars, sous vide, eggs, collagens, wood combustion, breads, and more. Although it is not certified as all-weather, we have tested it outdoors in Chicago weather and it has not delaminated in three years, but there is minor fading.

The Pit Barrel Cooker May Be Too Easy

The PBC has a rabid cult following for good reason. It is absolutely positively without a doubt the best bargain on a smoker in the world. Period. This baby will cook circles around the cheap offset sideways barrel smokers because temperature control is so much easier.

The Cool Kettle With The Hinged Hood We Always Wanted

Napoleon’s 22″ Pro Cart Charcoal Kettle Grill puts a few spins on the familiar kettle design. In fact, the hinged lid with a handle on the front, spins in a rotary motion 180 degrees. It’s hard to beat a Weber kettle, but Napoleon holds its own and adds some unique features to make the 22″ Pro Cart a viable alternative.
