Thanks for joining up! Sconi, eh? Well....Welcome from Minnesota! I have spent many a night in East Troy, at Alpine. I love that place! Great to have you here!

When you have a second, give this thread a once over. There is some important information for you. This information will ensure you get the most out of your experience here in The Pit.

Also, it's very important that you:
    • To check your email, go to User settings then the account tab.You currently cannot change your email on file with us since it’s tied to your Pitmaster Club account as well as our payment processor, Stripe. Don’t worry though, we’d be happy to change it for you. PM (private message) Huskee with your email change request, or via email at [email protected]
    • Add the domain AmazingRibs.com to your email safe list. We NEVER spam! This is important to receive special deals we occasionally work out for our members, notices about your account, such as if you’re up for renewal or are ever drawn as our monthly Gold Medal Giveaway winner, which is open to all USA members or those with a USA delivery address (we’d hate to have to pick another person because you don’t answer us)!

Thank you for your support. We are excited to have you and we look forward to your contributions.

Well that’s two people I know who use the term Sconi. Before Spinaker used it I had never heard it before & I have traveled all of the state & have lived here 30 years. Hmmmm. You live in a town that has a pretty good Q joint. Welcome, eat good and have fun!

                  Thanks all!
FYI - Some useless trivia about the origins of the term Sconnie.
I graduated from UW-Madison where i attended from '04-'09 (ON WISCONSIN!!). The native Wisconsin students had a term for out-of-staters from the East and West coasts who had a certain "look" to them, we called them Coasties. They, along with the FIBs and Sotans called us Sconnies. Well in about '06, we stole the term and used it affectionately to refer to ourselves as Sonnies. A couple enterprising students actually started printing SCONNIE shirts, clothing, and started a website and store.
My role in the whole thing was drinking the free case of beer that the enterprising students gave my friends in return for allowing them to hang a SCONNIE banner on their house during football gamedays.

Learn somethin everyday Dept. I now know. You two yutes, to quote Joe Pesci from my cousin Vinnie (that was a movie in the dark ages) are still the only ones I’ve heard use the term. I understand cuz it’s a yute/college thing & I’m a geezer, as in old guy. In all due respect, doesn’t make anything bad, just different. I’m more wrinkly. Keep the fire & smoke a comin’! 🕶

Welcome to The Pit. If you can smoke a butt, give a chuck roast a try. They cook about the same with the chucky normally needing to go a bit higher in temp to get to probe tender.

I hadn’t thought of roasts. Will have to pick one up and try it next time. Brine? Rub recommendations?
