ello ello (this should be read as if I have a British accent - which, of course, I don't)

    Hello everyone,

I'm located on the western outskirts of Milwaukee, WI. And yes, that is a Detroit Lions avatar. I'm originally from MI, and I have kept being a Lions fan throughout the 10+ years of living near the heart of Packer country.

I got a smoker as a Christmas present (from my Packer-loving in-laws, no less) and stumbled across this site while trying to figure out how not to ruin meats/meals/dinners/my time using the smoker. This site is a blessing!

I have not used the smoker very much yet (maybe a dozen times total) so far. But what I have done would have never been even remotely as good without this site. I've been meaning to join TPMC for some time just to pay something back for all the gifts that were given to me and my family. All of my smoking attempts thus far have pretty much followed the recipe to the letter. The one recipe/meal that stands out the most though is the Better-than-Steakhouse steaks. I have made them on several occasions and every time I was told, unsolicited, that they were the best steaks they've ever eaten (different guests every time).

I am not, in general, a good cook. My wife is a good cook. My mom was a good cook. But me? Well, I don't really understand how different things go together or don't go together, etc, blah, blah. (I can't even finish talking about how much I don't know about cooking.) So to be told you made the best steaks that somebody has ever eaten on several different occasions by several different people, it is truly amazing.

I am glad to have finally joined. There is much, much more to TPMC than I ever realized! I'm looking forward to exploring all this site has to offer, getting to know the members, and learning more and more about cooking amazingly delicious food.

Welcome! You're clearly developing your "outdoor cooking" vocabulary. Sometimes, you just need to become a specialist!

While I was looking through the common acronyms, I noticed the GAS and the MCS and kind of chuckled to myself. A whopping one hour later and I find this list of Weber grill goodies and can completely understand how it starts...cause I think it just started for me.

Welcome aboard, ya almost sound like me. Was originally from Detroit, although I became a Packers fan in the Lombardi era, then moved to WI in 89. Lived in Waukesha for 22 yrs until ‘14’. I was a non-cook also. You will be amazed at your progress. It’ll be neat to see what you & everybody else thinks 1yr from now. Eat good and have fun!
