    Merry Christmas, and hello

Happy holidays, everyone. My name is Scott, and I'm from Pittsburgh. I'm a retired State Trooper (this past March), and now do some computer work and consulting.

I've been lurking around here for several months, and just joined a few weeks ago. I've always loved cooking, and love BBQ (I'd sell my soul for a good brisket), but had never in my life smoked anything. But I decided I wanted to jump in, so my lovely wife bought me the Camp Chef Smoke Vault 24 for Christmas. I've done a pork butt and a brisket, both using the recipes here. Both were really good, but each left room for improvement (due to my unfamiliarity with the smoker, not the failure of the recipes). As I type this, I've got another butt on the smoker right now, gearing up for family Christmas dinner. This place is spectacular; the amount of knowledge on this website will take months to go through.

Welcome Scott, from another Pennsylvanian (down in West Chester). That looks like a nice rig. I started on a propane vertical and you can turn out some really good 'Cue with them. Like you said, it's all about learning the instrument. Enjoy!

Welcome Scott from Houston, Alaska. If I can make good "Q" from my cheesy rig, you'll be fine with yours. There are a lot of real good and nice folks here. Enjoy.
