Hello everybody, I just joined up after buying Meathead's book, which I found interesting and inspiring. I live in the UK, on the far west coastline of Wales. To be more specific I hail from Pembrokeshire, a long way from anywhere but a quiet and beautiful part of the world.
I lived and worked in London and in Asia for many, many years, but returned home a couple of years back. I have grilled before, but I'm very much a beginner.
When I lived overseas I once had a ceramic kamado imported from the US. Unfortunately, I had problems with the straps that held the lid on and, despite getting advice from the manufacturer by email, I could never get the lid to sit quite right. The gasket leaked as a result. Eventually, my repeated experiments led to complaints about smoke from my neighbours in the condo and I had to get rid of it.
Now there are no neighbours near me and I'm looking to get another kamado-like grill, maybe something lighter and easier to handle, like a Weber Summit Charcoal. I have two young sons who seem to eat nothing but meat with the odd bit of fruit thrown in (oh, and ice cream, that too). I'm thinking that the boys would love ribs and burnt ends, and of course they love pizza. All I need to do is get started.
I have already learnt a lot from this forum as result of the friendly and generous sharing information by you more experienced members, so I owe you a vote of thanks. I hope to learn more.
Cheers,
Dan
