    Newbie from Kansas City

    Hey all. Pretty new to the BBQ thing, got a Pit Barrel maybe 4 months ago and it makes me feel like I'm cheating. I've got people who have been into this stuff for decades telling me how amazing these ribs are. Now, I know in this case it's the tool and my ability to watch videos rather than any special skills. So I do what I always do and started researching and learning what's really going on inside that thing and what I can do to make it better. I found I kept coming back to this site whenever I looked things up, so I figured I should support something like that and bought a membership. While I'm new to BBQ, I've been cooking and grilling for many years. I like to push the envelope and try new recipes and techniques. Sometimes it goes well, other times not so well, but hey, it's the journey right? I tend to lurk quite a bit, so you probably won't see much in the way of posts from me, but the BBQ bug has bit me hard and I ain't going away anytime soon.

    I've read the rules, edited my sig (meagre as it may be). I'll set an avatar eventually, promise.

                    Hi from a Newbie in the UK. Currently calibrating my Napoleon 22" Kettle for 17lbs Brisket slow cook with English lumpwood charcoal, oak and apple from heavily pruned tree in my garden. Have soaked one of pieces of oak in Scottish Whisky to add some extra flavour. 12 people coming to sample as part of diamond wedding anniversary. Will try and post a picture.

                        Nate, what happened to your avatar? IU fell apart last night, thought they just might pull it off...until about halfway thru the 3rd Quarter. I bet if IU did beat OSU last night, that would of kicked them out of the playoffs.

                          I was going to change avatar but was having problems getting pic positioned on my phone. Will change it when back on regular PC. IU will be a nuisance for some teams but not a threat. Oddly enough I tend to pull for Michigan when it comes to college football.
