Just got my wifi GMG Daniel Boone this summer. Agonized for months on what to buy. I looked at just about every pellet grill sold in the USA! Finally bought my grill from a local construction company. The place did not look promising when I first pulled up in my truck. Just a big, metal building with a small sign outside. Looked like a construction company building! I thought I got the address wrong but, went inside and danged if they didn't sell GMG grills. Got a good deal too. Wound up saving almost $200 compared with what I had calculated for the grill, top rack, cover and blanket.
So far, I've cooked beer can chicken, a brisket and two pork butts along with various other items such as hamburgers, steaks, squash, etc. Still learning, but so far, everything has met or exceeded my expectations. No problems at all so far with the DB.
The reason I got the DB was to barbecue. I grew up in Alabama helping my dad make barbecue sauce and smoke pork butts for the Mason's 4th of July Picnic in my home town (in the 50s and 60s). The butts were cooked low and slow overnight over hickory coals. Man, that was some good cue! Haven't tasted anything like it since. The second butt I cooked I used Cookingpellets.com 100% hickory and I came very, very close. Made my dad's sauce to boot. Took me back to my childhood. So good it would make you want to slap yo' momma! My Dad would have been proud.
About myself: I'm a chemical engineer/pharmacist (degrees in both...I'm an educated idiot). Work in the pharmaceutical industry for a company here in Iowa. Work in quality assurance to make sure the drugs we make meet FDA standards.
