Hey everyone. I've been lurking and reading for a while, and I thought that I should introduce myself.
I'm a weekend bbq'er at our cabin in the Wisconsin northwoods, near Hayward. While I've been grilling on a propane grill for several decades, I recently got hooked on low and slow with wood pellets. I started with a Traeger Texas about 5 years ago. The Traeger is on its dying days, so I decided that it's time to upgrade. I have a Yoder YS640, with the competition base, on order. Of course, with our climate, I had to order the blanket for it. :-)
I enjoy all kinds of BBQ, but I'm partial to ribs and pulled pork. My oldest kids (in their 20's) will take as much pulled pork as I can make!
Making good ribs has always been on my bucket list. Back in the day I used to boil ribs (gasp!), but now I can confidently make ribs for guests. This last weekend I tried Meathead's "Last Meal" ribs, and they turned out wonderfully.
I'm loving this site. I like the science and technical stuff. It really helps to demystify things for me.
Thanks to everyone here for all of the great commentary and engagement.
