I bought my first charcoal grill (Weber kettle) last Fall and soon after bought a Smokenator. The family and I love them both! I rarely use gas now. Being a novice to smoking, I have learned tons from this site, so I joined.

Weber Smokey Joe, no legs... kettle rusted at the attachment point
An expensive but cheap gas grill (too embarassed to admit brand)
Barely adequate probe type meat therm. (brookstone quality)

Guiness Draught (why drink coors lite at 110 calories? Guiness is 124!)
Hi! Welcome! You have definately come to the right place! I'm from Framingham... And with the helpful advice of folks here, I got myself a pit barrel cooker. I never thought I'd go back to charcoal cooking and I can say I am so very glad I did!

Hey fellow Bay Staters! It's nice to see there's other people from Massachusetts that enjoy barbecue. JPP, I checked out your restaurant post, glad to see one posted for Mass; the Blue Ribbon looks great! I have a growing list of places I want to check out around the area, I have to let you all know how they are once I visit them.

Firefly's in Marlboro is decent, although I think I surpassed their ribs with my second cook on the PBCnquite frankly. Prices are decent, but it can be hit or miss... I got leather ends on a couple of visits... One when I specifically asked for thick end after getting the thin end three times in a row... They did make it right but I had to complain and I really hate doing that... Everyone at the table had these huge ribs and I got scraggly bones with leather instead of meat...
I also thought Goody Cole's in Brentwood New Hampshire was quite good... Better than FF but none in this area IMHO can hold a candle to Blue Ribbon or Redbones!
