Hello all and thanks for this wonderful site! Like most of you, I spend entirely too much time here combing through the site, and living vicariously through those of you who smoke/BBQ more than I.
I live in Central Texas just north of Austin. My wife and I are both from the panhandle of Texas, but we've lived here about 20 years. Three years ago we were blessed with an amazing little girl.
In the past I smoked/BBQ'ed on a small Weber kettle. My friends and family always claimed it was good, but as most of you know the flavor just wasn't right. I toyed with different woods, rubs and things, but never got it like I wanted. As luck would have it I found AmazingRibs and here I am. With the help of the review section of the site I found the KBQ!!! I debated and drooled over the purchase for about a year. Hell at once point I called and spoke with Bill (Master mind of KBQ) and thought I would make the trip to pick one up but that didn't happen. FINALLY two weeks ago my wife bought it for me for my birthday! As I type this thread I'm smoking my first brisket on the new KBQ! I hope to have photos of the process posted in the "KBQ has landed" section in a few days.
I enjoy hunting, fishing and the outdoors. I have a good buddy with a small ranch nearby which produces a steady supply of venison for the freezer so I really to enjoy a few venison treats once I get a little experience with the KBQ!
