    New from Boston

Hello, this is Greg from Boston (actually Ipswich, which is north shore). Love this site and have learned so much. I'm operating a BGE XL, PBC and PKG. I've been a member for a several months but never got around to posting. But I'm harboring a secret and had to tell some people who would understand. My wife was on vacation with my daughter last weekend and I found a practically new Weber Kettle Original 22" on Craigslist. I paid just $23! I snuck her into the garage and just started with some upgrades, including ash catcher, SnS and DnG. Would love some suggestions on how to rationalize this when I come clean. I was thinking about going with the moral argument in that it was my civic duty to take in an orphan cooker. Not sure if that will fly.

I'm new to the kettle and look forward to learning on it. Thanks to all for a great site and community.

A hearty welcome to the pit from northern Illinois.

But, honey look at how much I saved? Forget to mention the upgrades.

Hey, that's cheaper than a couple of bottles of wine down at Marcorelle's - and will last a lot longer!

You start by telling her, (in your best John Wayne voice) now honey, all saws cut wood but there are many cuts a carpenter is after which is why they make all the various kind of saws that they do. And, you know all those shoes that you have, well, they sure make your feet look perty. Just like all the different cuts that are needed, and all the ways you make your feet look beautiful, I have something that is going to bring you great pleasure at our next dinner. I sure do love you & look at what I got for our next dinner!

Welcome aboard bluesmoke, eat good & have fun!

You have definitely got it down. Doesn't work with mine though - she wants more saws.

Sounds reasonable enough to me, but I preside over "The Island of Misfit Cookers" lol!!!
Enjoy learnin' that Weber kettle; it'll blow your mind what it can do!!!

Hopefully you thought ahead and wrote a check for that $23 dollar purchase to have absolute proof of the low, low price. Then I hope you were smart enough to use green hard cash for all of the accessories... so there was no, zero, zilch paper trail that could make her think they didn't come with the $23 purchase. Remember... anything you say or do can be used against you.😎 If there's no pictures or a paper trail it never happened. 👍

I think the only thing you should have to explain is if you didn"t buy it. Pretty good deal.
