Hi, I'm Karson - 31 years old, married with two baby boys (3 & 1). Started out with a 22" Weber Kettle with a Smokenator a decade ago when I was still in college, and have plucked more knowledge from here than any other source (online, print, etc...). I've been in the PitMaster club for awhile, but somehow let my CC info lapse, so I sent a Contact form to help get that ironed out. What's fun about this hobby is you find things that work for you once you understand the basics and reasoning behind techniques. I also love how Meathead's book goes into a bit more detail on topics and has more pictures. Great investment - hard on the wallet!
I'm a gadget guy, so in reading this site, I naturally upgraded over the years to a SnS when it came out, and bought a PartyQ. What a game changer. This past week, I broke out my new 26" Weber Kettle, CyberQ, and SnS XL. I've got a 12lb whole brisket on it right now as my first cook on it, and so far so good! Started cooking at midnight, and threw my entire faith into the CyberQ that it would do its job while I slept
Pretty chilly day today @ 20F, but luckily the Iowa wind hasn't shown up yet.
