    Hello Everyone!!!!

    Hi all,

    I recently just bought a 22.5 WSM this is my first charcoal smoker ( I've used electric in the past). Im pretty excited to try something new!! Any tips or suggestions would be appreciated especially with temp control thanks!!

    Welcome to the pit from Indiana.

    Digital thermometers to monitor pit temp and meat temp would be my first suggestion if you don't already have them.

    Look into the Smoke from Thermoworks or if that isn't budget friendly look into a Maverick 732 or 733.

    The Best Setup for a WSM article on the main AR page may be a good place to start.

In addition to the great links Nate gave you, one of the perks of membership here is exclusive content not available to the public....and one such things is the video interview with Harry Soo, multi-time champion competition pitmaster. Meathead interviews him and he gives a bunch of tips and advice on using the WSM. Check it out after you read through the article Nate linked you to.

        Since this is your first post, please check out our homework assignment post for new members, it contains a few how-tos and please-dos. This will help you learn your way around so you can get the best experience from our forum.

                        Welcome borne44 ! I'm glad yer here, an' most interested in hearing about yer experiences with yer electric smoker(s). I still have / use a Brinkmann Gourmet, my first dedicated smoker. I've done a lot of good food on it, including Thanksgiving turkeys, whole, bone-in hams, lotsa pork loins, pork butts, etc.

                        I hope ya got pics; we jus' loves pics!

                          borne44 Welcome to the pit !! You have come to the right place !! There is plenty of info and good people with plenty knowledge here. Go to the forum and check out the charcoal sub forum, lots of info in that area.. Happy Smoking !!
