    Hello from KC!

    I have been smoking on a Green Egg for about 6 years now. I started following Meathead's recipes probably 4 years ago and just recently got the book and my free membership. I felt like I got pretty good at BBQ and entered a friendly low key competition last summer with a few friends on my team. I was in charge of the brisket entry. We won the competition and my brisket won the category. We may have gotten big heads after that because this summer we entered a KCBS (Kansas City Barbecue Society) sanctioned competition. Although we felt like our entries were better than most of the other entries we sampled we got almost dead last in the competition. My goal for the next few months is to determine if I want to pursue competition BBQ or just enjoy my own style at home.

      Welcome!!

      A guy I met on the net set up a NICE rig for competing. First comp they entered was a sanctioned 75 team comp and placed 3rd overall. They were stoked. They then entered a local 25 team comp and placed 23rd.

                            A belated welcome to The Pit jac7676! Bummer on the KCBS competition results, but congrats on winning your other one. Competition is all about pleasing judges, and judges vary and can be fickle. I used to have a desire to compete, but it's faded. I'd rather keep it fun and rewarding by cooking for family & friends than make work out of it and risk it losing its appeal. Anyway, thanks for joining up with us.
