I live in Boston nowadays, but I'm from Alabama originally, so I'm taking up smoking to get proper BBQ that I left behind to get away from the scorching summers. Plus, my partner keeps kosher, so I want to give her real, proper smoked BBQ that she can't normally get from restaurants, since the one decent kosher BBQ place we knew of in NYC closed up (and they were only OK to begin with, TBH). I'm starting small, with just a Z Grills pellet smoker, but I feel like I can barely hold myself back from bankrupting myself on different wood pellets and interesting cuts of meat to smoke with them. I just had people over for my first proper cookout with the grill on the 4th (I made smoked capon), and the reception was quite positive, despite almost sending myself to the ER taste-testing a homemade Alabama white sauce. (Turns out, accidentally inhaling a very vinegary sauce can have bad consequences.) Anyway, just wanted to introduce myself...I'm looking forward to learning my way around a smoker!
