    Blowin' smoke in Knoxville, TN

I enjoyed reading Jerod's sticky because his offset story is similar to how I started 5 years ago. I decided I wanted to learn how to smoke. So naturally, as a beginner, I bought a Char-Griller at Lowe's simply because it looked bad ass. Shortly after destroying some good meat and wasting a bunch of time building baffles and such, I came across this site. And of course the FIRST thing I read was not to buy a cheap offset smoker. Haha. It wasn't long before I bought a WSM 22.5 and, with much help from amazingribs.com, was churning out some damn good BBQ. I've since added a BBQ Guru DigiQ and smoking has never been easier. Today, I smoke more than ever and have never enjoyed it more. I joined the Pitmaster Club because I have recently become more interested in the science of it all. I look forward to learning as much as I can and perfecting my craft.

Welcome Chriscrna! I have to ask, are you a CRNA, or is that just an unrelated part of your username? Either way, thanks for the support and for joining the Club!

When you get a minute, check out Pit Boss' Welcome & Announcements channel, as well as the tips posts in that channel. These will help you learn your way around The Pit, as well as set up your signature. There's also a post that explains the best way to post nice big pics here...you know, to show off your gear and your cooks! It sounds like you're an experience BBQer, we look forward to hearing more from you! Enjoy!

The Pit Barrel Cooker May Be Too Easy

The PBC has a rabid cult following for good reason. It’s among the best bargains for a smoker in the world. This baby cooks circles around cheap offset smokers because temperature control is so much easier. Click here to read our detailed review and the raves from people who own them.
