    Greetings from Ireland

I bought a BBQ this week and I really want to try some low and slow smoking. Pulled Pork, RIbs, Brisket.

My BBQ is the Weber Master-Touch Premium. It came with a charcoal ring and deflector plate for indirect cooking. I was wondering what are the pros and cons of using these accessories vs a two zone method of indirect smoking?

Welcome to the Pit from central Ohio, US!

Nice cooker, you'll find lots of good info here! I'll let those with the same grill chime in on the usage.

EDIT: I should say, who are better at the grill than I am. I have one, but there are people with more skills with it than myself!

Welcome Benji, from Cincy Ohio! Was over in yer neck of the woods just over a year ago. First jump across the pond with the lovely miss Kim. We love pics n we are glad you are here!
I have a Master Touch but not those specific assy's. Sounds like the ring will concentrate heat and the deflector will do just that, deflect. Sounds like fine tuning to me.

Welcome to The Pit from Texas. I have a Weber Master Touch Kettle as well. I don't have the Weber ring and deflector plate but the SnS instead. 2 zone/ indirect is great for smoking and doing a reverse or front sear on meat. Direct grilling is great as well. The kettle can do almost anything with your current setup as well as adding accessories such as a rotisserie, Vortex, etc which I have as well. Check out the kettle videos on YouTube such as Mr Flavorsmith (he has ever kettle accessary known to man!) and Chudds BBQ Kettle series. Enjoy your BBQ adventure with the Weber Kettle.

Thanks everyone! I'm super excited. Smoked some English Cut Beef Short Ribs yesterday. I suspect my temp was too high as I had a very thick bark.

                    Looks good from here.
A good two probe thermometer can be your best friend. One probe to on the grate to monitor your cooking temp, and one in the meat to know when to start checking for probe tender.

Interesting to see what Weber supplied with this kettle.
We have to buy each item separately and I’ve never seen a “Weber” hinge before.
