    Fritz from Minnesota checking in.

It only took a couple visits to the site to know that I had to join the pit. Man, is there a load of great info here or what?

I'm a construction worker who works way too much, sometimes drinks too much and doesn't grill quite enough. I was raised on a farm in rural Minnesota and anything that came off the grill was done to hockey puck standards. It took many years of overdone steaks, pork chops and chicken for my wife to convince me that there's a better way.

We have used a Weber Performer charcoal grill for about 18 years now - love that thing. Prior to that we used a Weber kettle grill which I still use when I work out of town. Throw it in the back of the truck and we're grillin'. Just recently bought a Green Mountain Jim Bowie pellet grill. Haven't put it to use too often yet - hoping to use it more in winter with it's thermo cover. It's tough to keep a constant temp in the charcoal grill when it's ten below outside.

It seems every time I come to the pit for a piece of info I end up spending an hour or better finding other useful tidbits. You guys have an amazing website here! So glad I discovered it and proud to be a part of it.

Hope that someday I have some useful input. But for now it could be a lot of "Yup - I agree"

One thing you're going to love about The Pit is you can feel free to ask away without worrying someone is going to show you the search bar and say "go find it". We've grown a friendly atmosphere where folks can come in, ask their questions, and learn. And in no time you will be shocked how quickly you go from asking questions to answering them!

Dan - I hear ya! My dear Mom has been dead a few years now. What I wouldn't give for one more sit down dinner at her table with my Mom, Dad, and all the siblings gathered around. I never knew how good I had it until it was gone.
