    Hello from Sunny California!

    Hello Everyone!

    I'm a new meathead who won a Weber grill from work a year ago and finally got time to open it up and finally started grilling about two months ago. I am a complete rookie and have no experience. I browsed some subreddits and found myself purchasing the Meathead book and enjoying every bit of it learning about grilling. It was so good that I decided to take advantage of the trial to the membership and here I am.

    I've been grilling pretty much every week since I got the grill open and love every second of it, and my wife as well as she is reaping the benefits. I've been keeping it basic so far with just grilling some steaks and some marinated meat bought from trader joes.

    I looking forward to learning from all of you and being a part of the community.

    You can grill, bake, roast or smoke amazing things on your Weber. Your going to be hooked forever!

                  Welcome from the northern Virginia burbs of DC! Your kettle is super versatile, and you can do serious smoking on it too. Be advised: people will immediately start recommending new gear you should get! Let me be the first: You need an SnS insert for your kettle so that you can do 2-zone cooking and smoking!

                    Is an SnS a thing for the charcoal? The grill came with something that allows me to put the charcoal into it to do direct and indirect zones for heat I think.

                    tysong Yep, it's an insert that sits on your lower grate, and your cooking grate goes on top. Makes it super controllable to have your charcoal stay on one side of the kettle so that you can have a sizable indirect zone. And if you're getting that, you may as well get their stainless cooking grate that rotates very easily and has a hinged side... Google 'em up, you'll see!
