I have been grilling on a Twin Eagles gas grill for years but wanted to start learning to smoke "properly". My niece's son was building UDSs and I wanted to support his efforts. It looks like I will be leveraging the Fuels and Fire Channel right away since I have a problem in getting a long burn with my charcoal. Anyway glad I found the Pitmaster Club.

Welcome from the northern Virginia 'burbs of the nation's capital! Whereabouts in northern California? I did my undergrad at Humboldt State University in Arcata (recently renamed Cal Poly Humboldt). Absolutely love the north coast. (And sorry, San Francisco is not "northern" California! It's smack in the middle!

Thank you. I am in Sacramento - not as far north a Humboldt. The north coast is amazing. Glad the education system created Cal Poly Humboldt. They would not have done that if the professors and students did not meet the standards. Our oldest graduated from Cal Poly SLO.

McSmokin I agree, very glad they did the Cal Poly route too, and they've made an overt, serious effort to serve their local community as much as possible, especially the indigenous people there. Good for them! Still hard for me to get used to calling it that though!
